Noel studyed for the Permanent Diaconate at Mater Dei Institute in Clonliffe College and he also undertook a practical training programme in Ballinteer Parish under the guidance of Fr Richard Behan, Moderator.

On 17th September 2010 Archbishop Diarmuid Martin celebrated Mass in the Church of the Divine Mercy, Lucan South. During the ceremony he welcomed the candidates for the Permanent Diaconate in the Archdiocese of Dublin. At that time they had completed the first year of their three year formation programme and during the ceremony declared their acceptance to the Permanent Diaconate.

The ceremony in Dundrum where the Ministry of Acolyte was administered on the canditates was the second part of their acceptance to the Permanent Diaconate.

The third and final part of their acceptance to the Permanent Diaconate took place in the Pro Cathedral on Monday 4th June 2012 at 7pm when the successful canditates were ordained Permanent Deacons. We in Ballinteer parish are delighted that one of those to be ordained was Noel Ryan from Ballinteer Parish.
